How to join

Unfortunately we cannot accommodate complete beginners, although once or twice a year we hold a beginners course. We also keep in touch with the Exmouth Harriers who hold beginners courses. So, give us a ring and we will take your name down to contact you for our next beginner's course or refer you to the Exmouth Harriers' Beginner's Course.

If you can jog/run already please give us a call and we can have a chat. We usually ask that you can run for 40 minutes without stopping but that is not set in stone. We have had Belles in the past who could only run for 20 minutes but with support from the group they have managed 50 minutes!
When you come along for the first time we will ask you to complete a disclaimer form. The first session is free. Following that it is £2 per session on a pay as you go basis. Some runners come to both sessions, some to one and others to fit in with work and family commitments.

We ask for £5 membership per year. This covers costs and membership to the ARC.

To talk to one of the leaders, please call Clare - 07794 133962, Lorraine - 07775 835453 or Cally - 07974 816384

About your leaders

Clare Medlock
I have been running for about 8 years now. I was overweight, unfit and demotivated. I had never been sporty as a child or teenager and was always the last to be picked at school for team games. The death of a couple of close friends by cancer motivated me to train for a race for life event. Raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org/  It took me three months to run half a mile. I used to go out in disguise or at night hoping no one would see me. However, after running those three miles I started to run regularly and my confidence grew. I was never fast but was determined to get myself fitter. Cally and Lorraine then asked me to join them at a women’s running group, run then by the Women’s running network. It was then that the three of us got hooked by the supportive and encouraging ethos we use now. Since that first race for life I have run 3 marathons, over 14 half marathons and many other events.
